TYPA ResidencyArtist in residence

On the evening of the 27th of February at 7 o’clock, the Printing Museum’s “Balcony Gallery” will be hosting a two-week exhibition by Andrew Weatherill who was been on a month-long residency. During his stay, Andrew has been investigating lines and space through traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques. What started out as an experiment with a copper plate, turned into a carefully calculated method which resulted in a series of artworks, each one unique in its esthetic.

The artwork produced during the residency is based on Andrew’s observations upon the urban landscape of Tartu. Within the abstract prints, one can recognize sceletons of trees, motifs of snow or impartial decay of buildings. Whilst some shapes remind us something familiar, the rest of it stays uncertain. These harder and softer forms intersect and result in what we know as Tartu.

The exhibition will be open until the 18th of March.
